YouTuber "Tricks Her Followers" Into Thinking She's On Vacation In Bali By Taking A Bunch Of Pictures Of Herself In An Ikea

Source  - Don’t believe everything you see on the internet. A popular social media user decided to see if she could fake a vacation to Bali. Instead of going to the popular tourist destination, she went to a nearby Ikea and used some very specific angles to trick her followers.

Natalia Taylor posted several photos to her Instagram page, claiming to be on vacation in Bali. The first set of photos was simply captioned, “The queen has arrived.” The various photos show Taylor at Ikea displays, but they were carefully shot to cut out most tell-tale signs of the store.

Based on the comments, it appears that her followers believed she actually was in Bali.

The pictures:

Brilliant.

Taylor also posted a video to her YouTube page, where she described Bali as “the perfect place to fake an influencer vacation and lie to all of my followers.” She goes on to explain that the point of the video is to see if she “really can fake it until you make it.”

“So many influencers nowadays have actually been caught in the act of pretending to be at a destination when they really weren’t, and it’s just either Photoshop or it’s not even them,” she said.

The video shows her going around a nearby Ikea and staging various photos, all while customers continue to shop around her. She even stages some pictures to look like they were taken outside or in the bathroom.

Listen, I've seen plenty of original ideas before, but this? This is some next level creativity. After a quick Google search I found that it's only been done roughly ten-thousand times before…

but hey, her video has 1.3 million views and I'm sitting here writing about it, so who's the loser? I'd be curious to see how much money she ended up making. If I had to guess I'd say none considering she didn't even get Ikea to sponsor her Ikea video. She also started insulting her followers around the 9:40 mark, which seems like a strange strategy for someone trying to gain popularity…

"It's painfully obvious I'm not in Bali! How could you not tell?!?"

"Umm, I don't know maybe because most people don't assume you're trying to trick them with a geotag."

Regardless, she went viral and here we are. She has 317k followers on IG and 1.94 MILLION subscribers on YouTube. Both those numbers will increase thanks to this video. Don't hate the player, hate the game. Well done, Natalia.
